Today I wanted to share some thoughts on my favorite holiday, Easter. I love spring and the sense of renewal we all have as the trees start to put out leaves and flowers start to bloom. The world just seems to wake up. I like to think of it as maybe how it was as God created earth when everything was new and full of life. But the real reason it’s my favorite holiday is because of the sacrifice Jesus made for me. So… I have to ask the question…”Where is the real Easter?”
Because so much of my life is involved in home decor, every year I head out to the stores in search of spring and Easter decor. Everywhere you look there are millions of Bunnies and Eggs and so cute! I love the Easter bunny as much as anyone, but what’s happened to The Lamb?! Easter is the most unbelievable story of all time. Jesus died on the cross for all of us! And rose again to walk this earth and now sits at the right hand of God so that we might be with them In Heaven one day! Where is that story? I don’t see it anywhere among our commercial markets, do you! You might find a stuffed Lamb children’s toy but its very difficult to find any decor items depicting the REAL EASTER!!! My goal this year is to beat the odds and turn this time of year around for The Lamb in my family!
So, today….ask yourself the question….Where is the real Easter?….in your life. My prayer for you all is that you stop and take time to reflect and remember what Easter is really about. So with every bite of chocolate bunny and every egg you hide for the kids remember what Jesus did for YOU!!! Say a prayer of thanks and maybe share and remind those around you of the incredible REAL Easter Story!

Well today is the start of a brand new year! As I’m sitting here thinking about the past year and all the things I need to change this year, I’m suddenly realizing all the true blessings in my life and how much that is what I want to focus on in this new year. I am so blessed to have a wonderful family and such special friends in my life! My prayer this year is that I am able to take the time to make those relationships the priority in my life! Nothing can replace time spent with those you care about. Making memories that last a life time is what’s most important to me! What’s important in your life? What will you make your priority in 2020?

As I’m sitting here writing this blog and showing you all my fancy decorations, I’m asking myself, “What does Christmas really mean?” There’s so much to do! Gifts and decorating and parties and food! What fun! What stress! Over the years I’ve come to have a love/hate feeling about Christmas which makes me sad. There’s so much expectation over what needs to be done. How much money we spend. And what we spend our time on. It’s so easy to get caught up in all the “doing” that we lose complete sight of what we are celebrating.
Ask yourself this question, “What is Christmas to you?” Is it the decorations, Santa, the food, and the gifts? Is it making sure you’ve purchased the right gifts and spread the money out evenly so that one person doesn’t get more than the other? Are you spending money you don’t really have? Hey, I get it, I’m right there with you. But…..maybe…..none of that’s important.
I’ve been realizing, more than ever, the importance of the people in my life. Christmas is really the celebration of Jesus coming to earth! He came and showed us the most important part of God’s creation! God’s love for his children! His whole purpose was to bring us back to our Father. It had nothing to do with all the trimmings of life we so abundantly have. Just remember, Jesus is with you in that long line at Home Goods and at the grocery store. He’s there with you patiently waiting for you to reach out and help the person behind you, in front of you or stealing your parking place. Do you see those people? They are all God’s children and the real reason for Christmas!
My goal this Christmas is to be that person that gives a helping hand and gives up my parking space! I want to simplify Christmas! More than anything I want it to be about the time I spend with family, friends, and strangers behind me in line, not all the “things” that go with it! How about you?

Unconditional love! That’s what out dogs give us! What great examples they are to us. Are you showing unconditional love to those around you? That means loving, caring, forgiving, respecting, etc. and wanting nothing in exchange! That’s so difficult to do in our day to day lives. We live in a world all about “me”. What if we all made it about the other person instead?! Forgive someone today and forever with no strings attached!

Grateful! How fortunate we are to have the choices and possessions we do in life. I am so thankful! Some people don’t even have one blanket. I have many. Lord, thank you for my many blessings! What are you grateful for?

Patience! Don’t rush out and make changes in life too quickly. With patience and a little love even something or someone old and worn out can shine again! It’s really all in God’s time anyway! What are you being impatient about?
